RACKLEY SQUADS - SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE

Squad swimming is a great way to develop lifelong skills, refine technique and most importantly be safe and have fun in the water. Rackley Squad Programs caters for all abilities and the focus is on developing each swimmer to reach their potential and love of the sport. Training sessions will provide swimmers with the skills and stamina needed to set their sights on competing at their chosen level be it Local, School, Masters or National level we have Squads for all levels

Our Coaches 
At Rackley Hibiscus Coaches Shaun Crow, Josh Smith and Leeanne Herman bring years of experience as coaches of swimmers at all levels to the pool deck. They are passionate about swimming as a way of life. We cater our programs to Swimmers at all levels and abilities with a focus on long term success, achievement and enjoyment.

Our Facilities  
The Hibiscus Aquatic Centre has a 50m outdoor pool, 25 metre indoor pool and Fully Equipped Gym


Join the Club
At Rackley Hibiscus we encourage Squad swimmers to join the swim club (Rackley Swim Team) which enables swimmers to swim at our regular swim club nights during the summer season as well as competing at local, Brisbane, Queensland and National Swim meets. Adult swimmers can join the Rackley Masters swim team.

Squad Levels






Junior Squad
Junior Squad is our beginner squad and swim for 1 hour and is intended as the transition from Learn to Swim to Squad swimming. At this level the squad focuses on developing stroke technique and skills while also introducing small amounts of endurance. *Equipment required – flippers.
Bronze Squad
Bronze squad is the entry group into our performance focused squads. Building upon the fundamental swimming skills and develop your child’s ability to learn how to train and help them develop a growth mindset and develop a love for the sport. Individual swimmers will be introduced to a variety of racing opportunities as they continue to master the four competitive strokes and gain greater proficiency in turns, starts and finishes. This is achieved by introducing more advanced drills and training techniques.

*Equipment required – flippers, paddles, pull buoy & kickboard.
Silver Squad
Designed for swimmers already competing at a State level, in silver squad we focus on encouraging the lifelong love and appreciation of swimming as we introduce the swimmers to more rigorous training, preparing them for competition at a state level. Squad sessions at Silver Level maintain an emphasis on stroke technique while incorporating more aerobic endurance, racing skills and dry land sessions. It is aimed at continuing to develop swimmer’s conditioning for competition but also creating training habits and behaviours that give athletes the highest chance of long-term success

Recommended minimum 5 sessions per week. (age 13+).
*Equipment required – flippers, paddles, pull buoy, kickboard & snorkel
Gold Squad
The Gold Squad is our senior performance squad for students who wish to race and compete at all level competitions. At this level students are fine tuning their skills and improving their race fitness, endurance, speed and skills ready for competition.

Recommended minimum 7 sessions per week. (age 13+).
*Equipment required – flippers, paddles, pull buoy, kickboard & snorkel.


Adult/ Swimfit+
Our SwimFit+ sessions are designed to improve performance and technique. SwimFit+ sessions are tailored to the goals of the SwimFit+ members. Longer sessions, lower lane density and experienced Rackley Coaches will help you reach your swimming goal. This level is for those who are looking to improve their swimming technique and fitness. It is suitable for a wide variety of people, from beginners through to competitive swimmers training for Masters, Triathlon and/or Ocean swimming.

Note*



The monthly rates are calculated based on a annual amount and take into account variances for swimmers who will not attend during Squad Break/family holiday periods. If your swimmer is having a break from squad of more than 4 weeks please contact the centre manager to discuss putting membership on hold during the break.

Shaun Crow
PERFORMANCE COACH/AQUATICS MANAGER
Shaun has over 30yrs coaching experience – Most recently he was head coach at Moreton Bay College since 2000.  During this time, he was head coach of One of Brisbane’s oldest and largest Clubs Acacia Bayside Swimming Club.  In the prior decade, Shaun was head coach in Regional Centres and Clubs.  Shaun is a Silver Licence Coach and is on the Board of QLD ASCTA (Australian Swimming Coach and Teachers Association) Across his Coaching Career Shaun has been a representative coach on Australian And Queensland teams including Junior Pan Pacific Coach, 2016, World Junior Coach, 2017  World Short Course Coach, 2016.  Shaun is passionate about Swimming and brings much experience to Hibiscus across development of Junior swimmers through to Australian Representative Swimmers.

Josh Smith
HEAD COACH
Prior to his appointment at Rackley Swim Team, Josh was the Head Coach at Rivercity swimming club from 2013 to 2017. Prior to this Josh was the head coach of Liao Ning province in China. Josh started his coaching career in Brisbane at Jamboree Heights state school swimming club, assisting to build a large successful junior club.Josh has served as a coach on Australian youth teams, QLD SC state teams, SAL National Talent Identification as a lead coach, He has experience coaching at international level overseas and for Australia.Josh complete his Bachelor of Human movement studies and Bachelor of Secondary Education at QUT. Josh also completed the AIS/ Melbourne Business School - Performance Coaching and leadership program in 2016. He is currently studying a Masters of Science in Skill Acquisition within swimming at QUT.
